3D House

Yes, this is something that will be truly game changing. Imagine a single family home that could be built in just 24 hours. It is real folks. The implications are staggering. The typical construction time of a home can take a minimum of 6 months to build the shell from block or other material. Now with the advent of automated construction the costs of commercial construction can be reduced by as much as 80% for the house’s shell. Imagine being able to build housing very quickly for disaster relief rather than housing those affected in tents and shelters. Check out Countour Crafting Company, with which I have no affiliation whatsoever, I just think it has the potential to be DISRUPTIVE. And that’s we like to blog about at Deanmyerow.net, things that are game changers.

Watch this video Ted Video and you will be amazed:

Imagine if the founder, Dr. Behrokh Khoshnevis is correct in his thesis, the world’s housing crisis in the developing world will look radically different in the future. The impact is phenomenal, less pollution and wasted materials in the construction process. He even suggests that the technology could be brought to the moon for lunar construction.

Back to this world, quick and affordable construction for towns and cities with aging housing, and affordable housing for low income individuals. All great, but what is the downside? It is not a far-fetched guess to imagine that traditional construction workers would be deeply impacted. Khoshnevis argues that the world did not end when at the beginning of the 20th century when 62% of Americans were farmers that were eventually disrupted by agricultural technologies that caused that number to be reduced to a mere 1.5% of the population. New technologies created other career opportunities for those displaced over time. I am fairly certain that this has wide ranging impacts many of them yet to be explored.

Dean Myerow
I am more complex than it appears. I am a Fox News watching Libertarian conservative that deeply values the idea of capitalism, Laissez Faire economics, and strong military. And on the other hand, my favorite book is Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, and my favorite music is the Grateful Dead. So reconciling, my conservative values with my counterculture roots is interesting . I enjoy taking long walks on Fort Lauderdale Beach with my Goldendoodles, Otis and Brady, when I am not actively working as a board member at Green Point Research. I am a terrible golfer, who prefers the tennis court any day of the week. I am the lucky father of three teenagers and happily married for over 20 years.
